Not Yours to Give: Davy Crockett, Taxation & the Public Treasury DVD
Davy Crockett has been immortalized as a folk hero, known for his battles with the Red Stick Creek Indians under Andrew Jackson, and his last stand at the Alamo with fellow Patriots James Bowie from Kentucky and William Travis from South Carolina. At the end of his formal service as a soldier, Crockett was elected Lieutenant Colonel of the Tennessee Militia.
What you may not know is Crockett served several terms in Congress between 1827 and 1835. During this time, Crockett, consider an honorable man, made use of the national treasury voting on occasion to allocate monies to relieve the poor and suffering. But one day that all changed.
Not Yours to Give: Davy Crockett, Taxation and the Public Treasury is the story of a meeting between Col. Crockett and a simple farmer who taught Davy more about honor and the Constitution of the United States than anyone else ever had.
